Children's community nursing service for Haringey and N postcodes in Enfield
The children’s community nursing team consist of highly trained and experienced paediatric nurses who provide care for babies, children and young people
(aged 0-16) and live in Haringey and the N postcodes of Enfield. The nurses visit children at home to deliver nursing care to children with both long term and acute conditions. The nurses work closely with allied professionals such as dieticians, community paediatricians, psychologists, clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, school nurses and social workers.
Services include:
- Post-operative support
- Wound and burn care
- Co-ordination and monitoring of complex care and medical needs
- Oxygen therapy and/or oxygen monitoring and cardiac assessments
- Feeding management and support include care of nasogastric and gastrostomy tubes
- Intravenous & intramuscular antibiotics
- Subcutaneous injections
- Education and teaching for families End of life care to children in their own homes in conjunction with local palliative care teams
- Chemotherapy

Children’s Occupational Therapy Team
Occupational therapists help children and young people improve their ability to participate in everyday activities (“occupations”). These occupations may include self-care tasks (for example getting dressed, eating), play and leisure activities (such as riding a bicycle, playing with Lego) and participating in school life (for example using a pencil and scissors). Disabled children or those with additional needs can be referred to Children‘s Occupational Therapy if they are having difficulties performing everyday activities. Children’s Physiotherapy Team
We work with children, young people and their families to promote their physical independence, mobility and function, to help achieve their maximum potential.
Neurodevelopmental service
This service is for children and young people aged 0-19 years old, with ongoing functional or mobility needs related to long term conditions. Please use the child development team referral form to refer to our neurodevelopmental service which includes Physiotherapy.

Musculoskeletal service
This service is for children and young people aged 0-17 years old with musculoskeletal concerns, aches and pains. For some 16 and 17 year olds, it may be more appropriate for them to be seen by the adult physiotherapy service and their referral may be forwarded to this team. Community paediatric service (known as CDT)
We see children with complex neurodevelopmental need who may also have additional health needs where there are 2 or more areas of concern that may result in learning, physical, sensory, communication, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
How to refer
The service accepts referrals from Health, Social Care or Education professionals. Referral form and supporting reports or documents should be emailed to beh-tr.enfieldcdcreferrals@nhs.net

Early Years Speech and Language Therapy
We provide help, support and interventions for children who have difficulties with speech, language and communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing from birth until the point they finish nursery and start school

The team provides school age vaccinations for children and young people in the London Borough of Enfield.

School Age Speech and Language Therapy
This service is for children and young people (from reception to school leaving age) who attend mainstream schools in Enfield or who have an Enfield GP. We support children with an Education Health Care Plan and/or who have health-related communication or eating and drinking needs.
Specialist Nursing, Bereavement and Play Team
We are a specialist service providing palliative care and assessing children and young adults who may require a health funded care package. We work closely with the children's community nursing teams based at North Middlesex and Chase Farm Hospitals, social care and education to ensure continuity of care.
We provide:
- Specialist short breaks in the home
- Bereavement support
- End of life care
- Play therapy
- Assessment, support and advice regarding health funded care.
Special School Nursing Team
The team provides health and wellbeing advice and support for children and young people attending Special Schools in the London Borough of Enfield.
