Apprenticeships at North Mid

Here at North Mid we offer successful values driven apprenticeship programmes. Our apprenticeships have enabled many young local people to access training and career development opportunities.

An apprenticeship is a real job, with hands-on professional experience, a salary and the chance to train while you work. The programme provides a set of recognised knowledge and vocational skills. You will be treated just like all other employees, with a contract of employment and holiday leave.

Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16 with no upper age limit, providing you do not hold an apprenticeship or qualification in that same subject and level. Apprenticeships are fully funded by our apprenticeship levy.

What could an apprenticeship lead to?

When you are an apprentice you train to be fully competent in your chosen occupation whilst on a career pathway. At the end of the apprenticeship, the apprentice is awarded a nationally recognised qualification by passing the end point assessment. Apprenticeships are available for new and existing staff.

What is a structure of an apprenticeship?

Lasting a minimum of 13 months, apprenticeships combine work-based learning with a mix of on and off the job training, often at an educational institution and on site.

Apprenticeship standards are developed working with employers and practitioners to ensure that they meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for each role. Depending on the level and duration of programme the structure may vary.

When you are ready at the end of the programme you will take the end point assessment, this is independent from the training provider and the employer. The assessments can be a combination of a test, observation of practice, a presentation and or a professional discussion.

Where we have apprenticeships

There are a large number of apprenticeships designed for clinical and non-clinical roles in the health sector. This enables the Trust to select the most relevant standard for specific roles, dependent on the apprentice’s experience and where possible a clearly defined progression pathway.

We have apprenticeships across the Trust divisional areas and in the community these include:
