Palliative care patients receive free wedding decorations for ceremonies at North Mid
A generous donation of wedding boxes has meant that patients at North Mid facing critical health challenges can be offered the opportunity to experience marriage when time may not be on their side.
The wedding boxes (supplied by Ginger Ray) were donated by Project Co and is a thoughtfully assembled collection of wedding essentials, including decorations and accessories that can transform any space into a beautiful wedding venue. For patients at North Mid, especially those with terminal illnesses or in palliative care, this donation provides a precious opportunity to celebrate love and commitment amidst the darkest of times.
In the past, staff at North Mid have had to use their initiative to support requests such as this from patients and were deeply touched by the gesture to provide patients and their families, an opportunity to celebrate and share some joy. The donation from Project Co means that families can not only use the boxes for their celebrations, but also take them home as a memento of the special day.
North Mid receives approximately 5-10 requests a year to support ceremonies, and staff appreciate that honouring requests has a huge impact on the holistic care this has for both the patients and their families.
Royal Free Charity will be supporting the project further by purchasing additional boxes for the teams at North Mid.
