#NHS75 - My NHS story

I came over to England from Mauritius in 1984, and I had my son just before I started my nurse training at North Mid in 1987. It was really hard work but it was all worth it. Everything was new for me, coming from a completely different country and getting to know a new culture.

I was a quiet person so openly talking to people was difficult, but I grew in the job and I grew as a person. I remember really struggling with accents at first, especially Scottish, so I used to just say 'yes' to everything!

My first job was as a staff nurse on a medical ward, and I progressed up to manager level before moving over to the corporate side where I am now.

I've stayed here so long because I'm local and I want to see North Mid thrive. I am proud of everyone who works here, and of what we achieve together as the North Mid family.
