#NHS75 - 34 years later and i'm still here!

When I started at the Trust in February 1989, I was in between jobs, and I thought I'd take it while I looked for something else. But 34 years later and I'm still here!

I started on the IT helpdesk, but back in those days we didn't really have many computers so the job was really quiet, so after six weeks I moved onto a new role in Finance. I've worked in lots of different finance roles at North Mid, working my way up from a band five to head of costing.

Things around the Trust have changed a fair bit since I first started. We used to have a social club on site round the back of where the car park is now. It was next to the old doctor's mess, and had a licenced bar and pool table. Smoking was allowed anywhere in the Trust too, even on the wards. It was a very different time.

I've stayed here so long because everybody treats me with respect. I've had my ups and downs, don't get me wrong, it hasn't all been plain sailing. But I love my job and I have freedom to act, which is really important.
