#ThisIsMe - Mihaela Agrigorosoaie

“No matter where you are in your journey, you have the power to shape your own path and make a positive impact in the world.”

Words by Mihaela Agrigorosoaie

Hello everyone! My name is Mihaela Agrigorosoaie and I am thrilled to be sharing my story with you as part of the #ThisIsMe series. I currently have the pleasure of working as a domestic services manager at North Mid. It is a role I find incredibly rewarding and I'm proud to be part of the diverse and dedicated team here at North Mid.

#ThisIsMyBackground

Let me start by telling you a little bit about my background. I originally hail from the beautiful country of Romania. From a young age, I have always been driven by a strong work ethic and a desire to continuously learn and grow. This led me to pursue my education in the field of accounting, earning diplomas from institutions both in Romania and later in the UK. My early career began in Romania, where I worked as an accountant for several years, developing a keen eye for detail and a knack for managing financial responsibilities.

mih However, life has a funny way of taking us on unexpected journeys. In 2015I made the decision to move to the UK, seeking new opportunities and experiences. As I am sure many of you can relate to, starting a new life in a different country came with its fair share of challenges. There were cultural differences to navigate, a new language to master, and the daunting task of establishing myself professionally in a foreign land.

Undeterred by these challenges, I embraced the opportunities that came my way. I found myself drawn to the hospitality industry and began my journey working in various housekeeping and room attendant roles in London hotels. It was during this time that I discovered my true passion for creating clean, welcoming, and well-maintained environments. I thrived in the fast-paced atmosphere and loved the satisfaction of knowing that my work directly contributed to the comfort and happiness of guests.

As I gained experience and honed my skills, I gradually progressed into management positions within the hospitality industry. I took on roles such as deputy housekeeping manager and housekeeping manager, where I had the opportunity to lead and develop teams, implement efficient processes, and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and service.

Fast forward to 2020, when I made the exciting decision to join the NHS family at North Mid as a domestic supervisor. It was a pivotal moment in my career, as I had always admired the incredible work and dedication of healthcare professionals. I saw this as an opportunity to apply my skills and experience in a meaningful way, contributing to the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff.

#ThisIsMeNow

mih In my current role as a domestic services manager, I am responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the domestic department. This involves managing budgets, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing cleaning schedules, and maintaining a high standard of hygiene throughout the hospital. It is a role that requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.

One of the aspects I love most about my job is the opportunity to develop and support my team members. I believe in the power of training, coaching, and providing opportunities for growth. Seeing my team members thrive and take pride in their work brings me immense satisfaction. Together, we strive to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that positively impacts the lives of everyone who passes through the hospital doors.

#ThisIsMeOutsideWork

While my work at North Mid is incredibly fulfilling, I am also a proud mother of three wonderful children. Balancing my career with the responsibilities of motherhood has been a journey filled with its own set of challenges and rewards. I am grateful for the support and understanding of my colleagues and the Trust, who value the importance of work-life balance.

In my free time, I indulge in my passion for travel. Exploring new places, immersing myself in different cultures, and creating lasting memories with my loved ones brings me immense joy. Whether it's a weekend getaway or a longer vacation, I always look forward to the opportunity to broaden my horizons and gain new perspectives.

Another aspect of my life that I cherish is spending quality time with my friends and family. The love, laughter, and support they provide are invaluable to me. Whether it's gathering around the dinner table, engaging in heartfelt conversations, or simply enjoying each other's company, these moments remind me of what truly matters in life.

#ThisIsMe

As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. Moving to the UK, transitioning careers, and becoming a part of the North Mid family have all been significant milestones. I've learned that with hard work, determination, and a willingness to embrace change, we can overcome any obstacle and thrive in the face of adversity.

Being featured in the #ThisIsMe series is an honour and a privilege. It allows me to showcase the incredible diversity and talent that exists within our Trust. I hope that my story serves as an inspiration to others, especially those who may be navigating their own journeys of change and growth. I want to remind everyone that no matter where you come from or what challenges you face, you have the power to create a meaningful and fulfilling life.

I am proud to be a member of #TeamNorthMid, working alongside dedicated professionals who share my passion for making a difference in the lives of others. The Trust's values of being fair, caring, and open resonate deeply with me and are reflected in the way we approach our work and interact with one another.

As I look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. I am committed to continuing my personal and professional growth, taking on new challenges, and making a positive impact in my role at North Mid. I am grateful for the support and encouragement of my colleagues and the leadership team, who foster an environment of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration.

mih To anyone reading this who may be considering a career in the NHS or a role in facilities management, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take that leap.
